Fair Season serves as an annual reminder of Vermont’s long and proud agricultural heritage. With fewer people directly involved with the production of their own food, Vermont’s agricultural fairs provide a critical link between our farm heritage and the food on our tables.

    Did you know?

  • Vermont’s dairy industry generates over $1 billion annually.
  • Vermont dairy farmers account for 58% of all the milk produced in New England.
  • Vermont dairy farmers produce more milk per capita than any other state in the United States, except Idaho.
  • Vermont cheeses have won "Best of Show" and dozens of other awards at the world’s most prestigious competitions.
  • If Vermonters bought 10% more of their food from local producers, that would add another half a billion dollars annually to the state’s economy.
